As an independent Design, Planning, Project Management and Cost Consultancy, providing a service for the piped utility industry throughout the UK, we work for all the major oil and gas transporters.

Structural CAD Technician

The successful candidate must have competency and experience of producing engineering drawings, be prepared to work from home, utilising web conferencing solutions, and making occasional site visits. 

Job Description:

  • The CAD Technician produces high quality technical drawings using a combination of plans, elevations and sections for customer approval.
  • Working closely with our Senior Civil Engineer to ensure that our designs are delivered on time, on budget and to exacting technical requirements.
  • Assisting our Senior Civil Engineer in maintaining a record of the progress of each design project to include communications, notices and applications.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good knowledge of Civil/Structural engineering principles.
  • A minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience of CAD / AutoCAD (or equivalent)
  • A self-motivated and problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent communication skills

CIVIL/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Rush Construction Services Ltd are looking to appoint a Civil Engineer (or Structural Engineer with a civils background) to assist our current Engineer on a range of civil engineering projects related to the natural gas industry.

Your responsibilities as a Civils Design Engineer:
Your key responsibilities as one of our Design Engineers will include the following: 

  • Preparing civils designs associated with the natural gas industry from feasibility through to detail (Construction Issue) including supporting calculations that will be subject to the IGEM/GL5 and DNO G17/PS6 design approvals & appraisals
  • Providing technical support and guidance to other discipline engineers in respect of civil/structural engineering matters
  • Working with clients, other technical disciplines and contractors at all levels
  • Actively engaging with clients, other technical disciplines and contractors to deliver projects and develop our technical relationship with them
  • Monitoring civil/structural construction works
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered to time, cost and quality


Requirements of the Civils Design Engineer
To fulfil the role you will have the following skills;

Essential

  • Degree/HNC/HND in a Civil Engineering related discipline
  • Knowledge and proficiency in use of IT to support design processes
  • Good understanding of current UK/EU relevant structural standards, specifications, construction contracts & the CDM Regulations
  • A good working knowledge of geotechnics and experience of designing buried structures
  • Proven ability to work to time, cost and quality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent presentation output.


Desirable

  • CEng/IEng
  • AutoCAD skills (or associated ‘dwg’ format)
  • G17 registered approver/appraiser for civils
  • Experience of leading an engineering team to deliver projects
  • Proven track record in UK facilities Gas Design
